The first day of the Realistic Nonviolence Simulation Training was implemented by Ahimsa for Nonviolence Organization in the city of Qamishli, as the first activity of the “Voice of Peace – Youth Against Violence” campaign, within the framework of the “Ruwad Al-Taghyir” project.

The first day focused on building a shared understanding of the concept of nonviolence and introducing participants to nonviolent simulation mechanisms in everyday life as a practical tool for addressing conflicts and disputes through peaceful means.

Key themes addressed during the session included:

  • Introducing nonviolence as an approach to dealing with conflicts in daily life.
  • Presenting the concept of realistic nonviolence simulation and its importance as a practical training tool.
  • Building interactive introductions among participants and fostering a safe space for dialogue.
  • Jointly developing a team charter to organize and guide the work throughout the sessions.
  • Discussing the general framework of nonviolence through the exchange of perspectives and experiences.
  • Introducing the roles within realistic nonviolence simulation (direct party, mediator, supporter/observer) and understanding the nature of each role.
  • Group work to summarize the simulation roles and share outcomes with all participants.
  • Using conflict-mapping tools to illustrate real-life conflict scenarios.
  • Comparing violent and nonviolent conflict resolution approaches and highlighting the practical differences between them.

The session provided an interactive space for dialogue and experiential learning, contributing to raising participants’ awareness of nonviolence as an effective approach for positive change and peacebuilding.

In conclusion, the first session marked a foundational step in the training journey and laid the groundwork for strengthening youth capacities in managing conflicts through peaceful and effective methods, in line with the objectives of the “Ruwad Al-Taghyir project.
