Ahimsa Organization organized a visit to the “Mary Church” in Nasra area to attend the final Christmas prayer, as part of the Mosaic initiative, which aims to introduce young people in Hasakah to the different cultures in the region and correct common misconceptions, within the framework of the “Masar Project.”

The visit came as an effort to strengthen values of religious understanding and peaceful coexistence among the community’s diverse components. During the visit, the following took place:

  • The team participated in the Christmas rituals marking the birth of Jesus Christ and offered greetings to the Christian community on this occasion.
  • After the prayer, an open conversation was held between the participants and Father Elias about the traditions and customs related to Christian religious holidays.
  • Father Elias also answered the team’s questions and inquiries.

The church provided clear and simple explanations about several concepts, including:

  • Christmas Day (the Divine Liturgy)
  • The Seven Sacraments of the Church
  • The symbolism of the Christmas tree, laurel, and the five-pointed star
  • The concept of the Holy Trinity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit

This visit helped broaden the participants’ understanding of Christian beliefs and highlighted the importance of respecting these beliefs within the fabric of a diverse society.

At the end of the visit, Father Elias presented the team with a booklet he wrote about the Holy Trinity as a symbolic gesture that reflects the spirit of love and openness.
