Ahimsa Organization for Nonviolence implemented the second dialogue session within the series of capacity-building sessions in research writing, entitled “Discussing the Concept of Women” from the Dictionary of Nonviolence, within the framework of the “Change Makers” project, with the participation of attendees from different areas (Al-Hasakah, Raqqa, Deir Al-Zor, Qamishli).
The session focused on the concept of women as presented in the Dictionary of Nonviolence and on the role of women in building community peace and promoting the values of nonviolence.
The session focused on the following themes:
- Discussing the concept of women from a nonviolent perspective and linking it to the social and cultural reality of local communities.
- Analyzing real-life examples that illustrate women’s roles and challenges in different contexts.
- Comparing the theoretical presentation of the concept of women in the Dictionary of Nonviolence with lived reality, and discussing the gap between concepts and actual practices.
- Building participants’ capacities to analyze women’s issues and write about them within a nonviolent research framework that upholds human values, justice, and equality.
- Developing skills in writing nonviolent, reality-based research grounded in critical analysis and in linking concepts with lived experiences.
The session provided space for dialogue, critical thinking, and the exchange of views among participants, which contributed to deepening their understanding of women’s issues from a nonviolent perspective and strengthening their research capacities as a tool for peaceful change.
The session concluded with participants’ recommendations calling for the development of research that reflects women’s experiences and challenges and contributes to building community awareness based on justice and nonviolence.
