24–28 March 2024
As part of the first phase of the “Plant It” Campaign, launched by Ahimsa Nonviolence Organization in the Masar Project, and in coordination with the Environmental Department and the Municipalities Administration, activities were carried out in Al-Hasakah City, targeting the Tal Hajar and Marsho neighborhoods.
This initiative reflects our belief that protecting the environment is a shared community responsibility and an essential pillar in promoting a culture of nonviolence and building lasting peace.
The campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of environmental protection and rejecting all forms of environmental violence by encouraging sustainable agricultural practices that respond to the region’s environmental challenges.
It also promotes basin planting as an environmentally sustainable approach to conserving natural resources.
During the first phase of the campaign, 30 Eastern Gall Oak (Quercus infectoria) saplings were distributed and planted in agricultural basins across the targeted areas. In addition, awareness brochures and informational posters were distributed to encourage environmentally responsible practices and strengthen environmental awareness within the community.
