The Third Phase of the “Plant It” Campaign

What if we told you that sidewalks can breathe?
That a small space in front of a shop can become a green corner that provides shade, improves air quality, and brings more life to the city?

With this vision, Ahimsa for Nonviolence Organization continued implementing the “Plant It” Campaign, launched from our belief in the importance of promoting environmental awareness and fostering a culture of nonviolence toward the environment.

Following the successful implementation of the first and second phases in the Tal Hajar and Marsho neighborhoods, the campaign reached Sinalco Roundabout in Al-Hasakah City during its third phase, with active community participation.

The third phase was launched in cooperation with the Directorate of Environment and the People’s Municipality, during which dozens of planting basins containing rosemary shrubs were placed in front of local shops. The campaign also included a field awareness initiative led by agricultural engineers from Ahimsa’s team to promote environmental protection and encourage environmentally friendly practices.

This collaboration also resulted in a decision by the Environment Authority and the People’s Municipality to regulate the placement of planting basins in front of commercial shops, contributing to a more attractive urban landscape and helping reduce pollution in densely populated areas.

At Ahimsa, we believe that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility, and that community-based local initiatives are an important step toward creating more sustainable cities.

They also contribute to strengthening a culture of nonviolence and fostering a collective sense of responsibility toward the environment.

Plant something—even if it is in a cup or a small container.
Growing plants does not require a large space; it only requires a seed and the will to help it grow.
