The Ahimsa for Nonviolence team created an artistic mural on the wall of Sharif Radhi School in the city of Qamishli, as part of the Change Makers Project under the “Voice of Peace / Youth Against Violence” campaign. The mural carried a visual message expressing the values of nonviolence and peaceful communication between young women and men.

The mural depicted two hands shaking through a cracked wall, symbolizing the power of dialogue to overcome division and repair fractures. Above the scene, a dove of peace rises as a symbol of hope and a new beginning built on understanding and mutual respect. The artwork was surrounded by nonviolent phrases that promote a culture of peace in public spaces.

The mural aimed to:

  • Express the values of nonviolence and peaceful communication among youth.
  • Strengthen community awareness of a culture of nonviolence.
  • Deliver a positive visual message in public spaces that calls for dialogue and mutual understanding.

This initiative comes as part of our ongoing efforts to transform public spaces into platforms that spread hope and support a culture of peace and nonviolence.
