Ahimsa Organization for Nonviolence implemented an interactive dialogue session in the city of Qamishli, as part of the activities of the “Change Makers” project – “Voice of Peace Campaign / Youth Against Violence”.

The session aimed to create a safe space for dialogue, build a shared understanding of the concepts of violence and nonviolence, and highlight the role of nonviolent training in anger management and dealing with conflicts through peaceful approaches.

Main themes of the session included:
• Discussing the concepts of violence and nonviolence and their impacts on the individual and society.
• Sharing personal experiences related to violence within a safe and open dialogue framework.
• Highlighting the role of nonviolent training in anger management and controlling reactions.
• Implementing the first simulation, which represented verbal escalation and conflict.
• Analyzing the effects of escalation and violence on individuals and community relationships.
• Discussing the impact of incitement and violent rhetoric in society.
• Implementing the second simulation, which showcased calm, nonviolent dialogue as an effective alternative for conflict management.
• Drawing lessons learned and final conclusions from the session.

The session provided an interactive space for exchanging opinions and experiences, and contributed to raising participants’ awareness of the importance of dialogue and nonviolence as a means to reduce violence and build healthy relationships within the community.

In conclusion, the interactive dialogue session represented an important step in promoting a culture of nonviolence and strengthening participants’ skills in managing conflicts in peaceful and constructive ways.
