Ahimsa Organization held the fourth session of the capacity-building training series in Al-Hasakah, as part of “Masar” Project, in collaboration with the Steps Center in Lebanon and under the supervision of trainers specialized in nonviolence and peaceful conflict transformation.
The fourth session focused on:
- The meaning of nonviolence, along with various definitions of the concept.
- Analyzing concepts through violent and nonviolent arguments.
- Discussing the concepts of activism versus freedom and responsibility versus courage.
- Exploring the notions of defense versus activism and punishment versus consequences.
At the conclusion of the session, participants reflected on a collection of inspiring quotes on nonviolence, and were provided with links to key intellectual references in this field — including “Realistic Alternatives in Nonviolence” by Gene Sharp, which served as a rich source of practical examples and tools on how to resist injustice without falling into the cycle of violence.
