Ahimsa Organization held the fifth session of the capacity-building training series in Al-Hasakah, as part of “Masar” Project, in collaboration with the Steps Center in Lebanon and under the supervision of trainers specialized in nonviolence and peaceful conflict transformation.

The fifth session focused on:

  • Highlighting local nonviolent experiences that occurred within the community.
  • Analyzing these experiences from a nonviolent perspective, providing participants with an opportunity to connect theoretical concepts with real-life situations they had witnessed or heard about.

The trainers emphasized the risks of involving children in conflicts or poorly planned activities, as insufficient organization can unintentionally create new forms of violence. This became evident during the group presentations and discussions, as participants began to view everyday issues through an analytical and conscious nonviolent lens.

The trainers pointed out an important observation:

Sometimes, due to limited knowledge of nonviolent methods and strategies, individuals may unintentionally practice violence — as a result of poor planning, emotional reactions, or even good intentions.

It was reaffirmed that:

“The end does not justify the means if the means are violent — even when the goal is noble or nonviolent.”
