On January 11, 2023
Ahimsa Organization held the first session of its capacity-building training series in Al–Hasakah, as part of “Masar” Project, in collaboration with the Steps Center in Lebanon and under the supervision of trainers specialized in nonviolence and peaceful conflict transformation.
The first day focused on:
- Introducing participants and fostering positive communication.
- Breaking the ice and creating a safe space for expression.
- Showcasing individual identities through drawings or collage design.
- Exploring personal differences as part of a shared identity.
- Understanding collective identity.
- Examining how war and conflict can blur or suppress identities.
This session marked an important starting point within the youth capacity-building program, aiming to strengthen both self-awareness and social awareness of individual and collective identity.
It provided a safe and interactive space where participants connected, shared their experiences, stories, and identities through participatory exercises that encouraged self-expression and empathy.
The session reaffirmed that awareness begins within, and peace begins with dialogue.
