Ahimsa for Nonviolence Organization conducted its fourth dialogue session, titled “Building the Network’s Shared Identity,” as part of the “Ahimsa Nonviolence Network” project, with the participation of graduates of Ahimsa’s previous projects from different regions.
The session aimed to develop a shared understanding of the network’s identity and formulate a vision, mission, and core values to guide the work of its three cells, while strengthening participants’ understanding of commitment and responsibility within the network.
The session focused on several key themes, including:
- Discussing the concepts of commitment and responsibility within the network and the roles expected of its members.
- Discussing the time and effort required to participate in and sustain the network’s work.
- Developing a shared definition of the network and answering the question: “Who are we?”
- Drafting an initial vision and mission for the network and identifying the shared values that will guide its work.
- Emphasizing that the network’s identity represents all members and cells, rather than being associated with any particular cell or group.
- Discussing the criteria for selecting the founding team and the mechanism for forming it.
The session contributed to building a shared understanding of the network’s identity and creating space for dialogue around responsibility, participation, and commitment, supporting the establishment of a network based on cooperation and shared values.
The session concluded with the selection of the founding team members and the initial allocation of participants across the cells, along with participants’ commitment to continuing the process of building the network and working collectively.
