Ahimsa Organization held the third session of the capacity-building training series in Al-Hasakah, as part of “Masar” Project, in collaboration with the Steps Center in Lebanon and under the supervision of trainers specialized in nonviolence and peaceful conflict transformation.
During this session:
- Participants delved deeper into the concepts of violence and nonviolence, beginning with interactive definitions of both terms.
- Each participant selected the phrases that best reflected their personal understanding of these two concepts, creating space for reflection and dialogue on both individual and collective perceptions.
- The concept of nonviolence was then introduced systematically through a PowerPoint presentation (The Nonviolence File).
- Additional resources, such as The Practical Guide to Nonviolence, were also referenced, helping participants link theoretical ideas to practical applications.
Through discussion, participants reached a shared understanding of the importance of developing a clear awareness of nonviolence as a conscious, daily approach in both personal and social life.
It was emphasized that:
“Nonviolence is a deliberate and coherent choice that seeks to dismantle cycles of violence from their roots and replace them with means of communication and peaceful solutions that uphold everyone’s dignity.”
