Ahimsa Organization for Nonviolence implemented the fourth session titled “Individual Identity and Its Impact on Society” as part of the capacity-building sessions within the “Change Makers” project, with the aim of understanding the role that identity, in its various forms, plays in shaping relationships and practices within society.
The session included a set of interactive activities that helped participants gain a deeper understanding of themselves and the shared identity within the group. The main activities included:
- Discussing controversial statements related to nonviolence in an interactive way using Mentimeter.
- A focused discussion activity highlighting the importance of getting to know others and building genuine connections within the team.
- The collective identity tree, which brought together individual identities into a single visual, showing how a diverse and rich shared identity is formed and what connects the team as part of a wider community.
- A video presentation on nonviolent movements, along with interactive activities to raise awareness of individual identity and differences among group members.
This session strengthened participants’ understanding of identity as both an individual and collective value, and contributed to reinforcing awareness of its role in building a nonviolent society based on diversity, dialogue, and mutual respect.
