Protest Is A Legitimate Right expressing one’s opinion and demanding one’s rights are fundamental rights of every human being.
In light of the protests and tensions witnessed in the city of Kobani, we affirm that peaceful protest remains a legitimate means of expressing demands, making one’s voice heard, and calling for rights and justice.
However, protecting this right begins with preserving the peaceful nature of protests. At Ahimsa for Nonviolence, we believe that the strength of a protest does not lie in violence, but in its ability to clearly communicate demands, uphold human dignity, and create space for dialogue and peaceful solutions.
We can disagree, protest, and demand our rights… but without violence.
Because the change we aspire to begins with the means we choose to achieve it.
