Steps Towards Peace Project with IWPR

The "Steps Towards Peace" project was implemented in 2020 in partnership with the Institute for War & Peace Reporting (IWPR). This initiative aimed to build the capacities of 30 young men and women in Al-Hasakah, empowering them in decision-making processes. The project included a series of training sessions on UN Resolution 2250, advocacy and its mechanisms, the distribution of awareness posters on the role of youth, and the production of visual content highlighting youth roles and the importance of the resolution.

The training sessions were structured as follows:

  • Four Training Sessions on UN Resolution 2250: These sessions focused on raising awareness among young people about the resolution's provisions, emphasizing the enhancement of their participation in decision-making, their protection in conflict zones, and their pivotal role in peacebuilding efforts.
  • Four Training Sessions on Mobilization and Advocacy: These trainings aimed to equip young men and women with the necessary knowledge and skills to design effective campaigns supporting their peace and security-related causes. The sessions covered strategic planning methods, alliance building, and the use of various communication tools to ensure their messages were conveyed effectively.

Masar Project with PAX

The "Masar" project was implemented throughout 2023 and 2024, aiming to increase youth knowledge of non-violence concepts and values by providing them with non-violent tools and strategies. A group of young people was formed and intensively trained, in partnership with Khutwa Consulting Company, on non-violence concepts and how to apply these concepts in implementing field initiatives and campaigns. These included the "Mosaic Campaign (1)," "Mosaic Campaign (2)," "Plant It Campaign (1)," and "Plant It Campaign (2)."

The project also focused on activation in the field of advocacy through preparing impactful support messages that convey the reality of the region and issuing analytical research.

Jisour Project with PAX

The "Jisour" (Bridges) peace project is currently underway in 2025, with the goal of strengthening non-violence as a fundamental tool for achieving sustainable societal change in North and East Syria. This is being accomplished by empowering youth and activating their role in spreading a culture of dialogue and tolerance. Numerous training sessions and initiatives will be carried out by groups of non-violent activists in both Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor.
